"When I was in the process of casting the film, I had a lot of difficulty finding the right person to play the role of Kendall, Dominic's troubled daughter. She's a pretty complicated character, and exhibits a rather wide array of emotions...But it's not that simple: she's damaged and has a lot going on under the surface. I knew it was a pretty challenging role, and required the right actress to pull it off...Kayla sent in an audition and after seeing that and her clips from East of Nowhere,I felt I had found the film's Kendall. Kayla had a strong grasp of the frustrated and repressed anger that Kendall had to seethe throughout most of the film. Her tense confrontations with Bill Gobin (Dominic) are among some of my personal favorite parts in Three Tears. She really dove into the character, always asking questions and digging to find the root of Kendall's motivation. She was a great collaborator in bringing the character to life. Very grateful to...Kayla for all her hard work, time, talent and dedication on the film. She really busted her ass and never flinched from the often heavy demands of the role. Definitely a trooper."

"We had a lot of actresses read for the role of Missy. She is the younger sister of Deacon who is loud-mouthed, unapologetic, but mostly just lost. A lot of the actresses could pull of the sassy vindictive side of the character, but Kayla sort of did the opposite with the character. She would always pull the performance back and simplify it, doing more with her non-verbals and she had this innocent look about her, so the fact that the character was essentially a lost "kid" came across a lot more."
